Choose Where to Stay: Australia City Guides

The short answer

Choose Sydney, then compare the repeated daily trip and exact room.

Choose your Sydney base

Open the Sydney area guide to compare three bases. Choose The Rocks for harbour days. Compare Shelley Street for a Darling Harbour apartment, or Hall Street for Bondi Beach. Think about where you want to start each day.

Keep Bondi Beach separate from Bondi Junction. A train to the Junction still leaves a local trip to Hall Street. Save the full hotel address.

Match the room to the way you travel

Read the full room-view label if the outlook matters. A room with Opera House in the name can have a partial view. The hotel name or a wide harbour photograph does not settle what you will see from the room sold.

If you plan to cook, read the room details. A Studio kitchenette differs from an apartment kitchen. Check the beds too. Ask where each guest will sleep, and whether there is a door between the sleeping spaces.

If you want a pool, check that it will be open. Ask the hotel for the dates if its closure notice is unclear. A pool can stay on the hotel list while it is closed for work.

Use the airport terminal on your flight booking. Add the station access fee when you compare train costs. Check the trip back too, with the day and flight time you need.
