Choose Where to Stay: China City Guides

By Best Area To Stay In editorial desk ·

The short answer

Choose the city first, then compare its hotel streets with the room and arrival you need.

Choose the city you will use

Open the Hong Kong area guide for Tsim Sha Tsui, Sheung Wan and Mong Kok. The comparison starts with the side of the harbour and the days you want. It then checks full and partial views, studio equipment and family bedrooms.

Use the Shanghai area guide to compare the Bund, Jing'an and Lujiazui. Those settings give different real hotel streets. Check the room outlook and privacy layout as well as the address.

Read the exact room name

A larger or more costly category does not settle the view. A family label may mean shared space or separate bedrooms. A studio microwave may be useful without giving you a full kitchen.

Choose the feature you need first, then match the owner description to the room on sale. Keep the exact category with the booking so you can ask about a change before it affects the stay.

Check the actual arrival

Read the airport and station on your ticket. Similar city or station names can hide different arrival points. A rail journey still needs a final leg to the hotel guest entrance.

Confirm any hotel shuttle for the actual property and dates. Another hotel's pickup or an old route label cannot settle your own transfer.

For another destination, use the city and country finder. To flag a changed detail, send the page and source.
