The short answer
Compare Laugavegur for city plans, Old Harbour for a waterfront setting or Sigtún for a hotel and parking base. Check spa inclusion, actual beds and the last airport-transfer leg.
These Reykjavik hotel areas compare three named stays. Fit labels are our judgment, while the room and facility details come from the owners. Read the limit beside the appeal, then check your own dates. A hotel with a spa does not include access in every category, and a harbour address does not put the same view in every room.
Laugavegur offers the Miðgarður choice with different spa terms by room category. Marina anchors the Old Harbour comparison with distinct views and beds. Grand gives the Sigtún choice with paid parking and different room outlooks.

Choose where to stay in Reykjavik by the part of the city you want to use and the room details that matter. Laugavegur gives a street-led city base. The Old Harbour offers a different setting by the water. Sigtún gives a hotel and parking choice to compare. We use three real addresses and check the spa terms, room views and bed layouts rather than treating all central hotels as one stay.
Start with Laugavegur for a city stay around the Miðgarður address. Compare the Old Harbour if that setting shapes your plans. Choose Sigtún when Hotel Reykjavík Grand, its events or its parking fit the trip. Confirm the room category and full airport transfer. A spa, harbour location or hotel drop-off label can hide terms that change the booking.
Laugavegur is our first comparison for a city stay built around this street. Miðgarður by Center Hotels gives it a real address at number 120. The owner places the hotel on Laugavegur and lists a spa alongside its rooms. Choose this end of the street through the trips you will make, rather than assuming every Laugavegur address gives the same start and finish to the day.
Spa access changes by category. On the current room page, Standard Double/Twin has spa access on request for an extra fee. Standard Plus includes it. If the hot tubs are part of the reason to choose the hotel, compare the full stay with the correct category. A spa icon on the property listing does not settle what the room price covers.
The bathroom choice differs too. Standard has a shower, while Standard Plus lists a bath and shower combination. Decide which layout suits you, then match the room name on the booking. If a bath is essential, ask the hotel to confirm it for the category sold. A gallery can mix several types of bathroom without making every type part of your stay.
The spa page has age and session terms, so check the rules for every guest. Included spa access is not the same as unrestricted entry at any hour for a child. Ask about the actual session you want before making the booking depend on it. We do not reproduce a fixed fee or age cutoff because the hotel should confirm the applicable terms for your party.
Use Laugavegur 120 for the guest stay. The chain website also shows an office address on Þverholt in its footer. Save the actual hotel address with the room name, then choose the transfer or tour pickup for that property. A correct chain name does not by itself give a driver the right destination, particularly when nearby hotels share parts of the name.
The Old Harbour is the next setting to compare when time by the water shapes the visit. Berjaya Reykjavík Marina Hotel gives the choice a fixed address at Mýrargata 2. The owner places it beside the Slippur dry dock. Choose it for the harbour plans you want to make, then compare the journeys to the rest of the city.
The room outlook is a real distinction here. The owner lists standard Double and Twin rooms with a view over Vesturbær, while Deluxe Room - Harbor view is a separate category. Do not choose any room on the strength of the harbour in the property name. If seeing the water from the bedroom matters, keep the exact view category on the reservation.
Groups should read the actual bed setup. The Studio 6 page lists a king-size bunk bed and a sofa bed. That is different from six separate single beds or several private bedrooms. Ask how the beds will be made for your party and whether the bunk layout suits each guest. The number in the category name should not replace the sleeping plan.
A family room and Studio 6 are separate choices in the owner's room list. Compare the type you need rather than assuming the group category is the largest or most private option. If someone needs to avoid a bunk, confirm another arrangement. Shared space can work well when it matches the group, but a wrong bed layout is hard to fix after arrival.
For a boat outing, read the exact meeting point on the operator's instructions. A harbour-side hotel can still be away from the pier you need. Match the departure to the guest address rather than choosing by the word harbour alone. For airport travel, make the same check with the transfer pickup and the final street leg, which may use a separate stop.
Compare Sigtún when Hotel Reykjavík Grand or a car-led part of the trip has a clear role. The checked guest address is Sigtún 28 in the Laugardalur setting. This is a different base from Laugavegur or the Old Harbour. Start with the reason to be here, then test how the other days will work from the same address.
The current owner page lists parking at an extra charge. That gives drivers a facility to compare, but not a free space or a reserved bay. Ask about the parking terms and the space available for your car. If parking decides the booking, include it when you compare the full stay with a more central hotel and a separate car collection plan.
The room list separates Atrium View from Tower View. Those labels describe different outlooks, so choose the exact one before comparing rates. An inward-looking room and a higher view can offer different stays even at the same hotel. Confirm the booked category rather than expecting the broad Grand name or a city photograph to establish the view.
A bathtub is another category check. The current Junior Suite description lists one, while the standard-room details list a shower. Do not read a suite photograph as proof that every bathroom includes a bath. If this matters to your party, ask about the actual room and save the answer with the category name before you pay.
For a conference or event at the hotel, confirm the venue on the invitation. Being in the right building can help with that day, while the rest of the city visit still needs its own plan. Compare the full stay rather than moving every night for a single event. The useful choice depends on how much of the trip is tied to Sigtún.
The map compares three hotel buildings with a BSÍ terminal-stop reference. All points come from licensed OpenStreetMap records. The Grand record carries a different building number; use the owner's Sigtún 28 for arrival. The terminal marker is not a promise of a particular coach bay. No streets, district boundaries or walking times are drawn, so confirm the actual route with the hotel or operator.

Names and guest addresses were compared with owner pages and public Trip.com property listings in October 2026. The cards show three setting and room choices, without a live price or score used to rank them. The older names in some listing URLs do not change the guest address. Check the room and transfer terms for your own stay before paying.
Miðgarður by Center Hotels
Best for: A Laugavegur stay with spa inclusion chosen by category.
Location: Laugavegur 120, 105 Reykjavík
Official evidence: The room page distinguishes Standard extra-fee spa access from included access in Standard Plus.
Trade-off: A hotel-wide spa label does not make access part of every rate.
Before booking: Confirm the bathroom for your category, then the spa terms for each guest.
Reykjavík airport arrivals: BSÍ, hotel shuttles and the correct pickup
Check the airport on the flight booking first. The Flybus information used here concerns Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík. Do not treat a general Reykjavík airport label as enough to choose a transfer. Check the airport code and service on your tickets, then compare the complete hotel journey. The room address and arrival airport should both appear in your saved plan.
Flybus separates the coach journey to BSÍ from an onward shuttle add-on. Choose the service that covers the leg you need. A ticket to the terminal does not by itself take you to a hotel or city pickup point. If you select an onward transfer, check the destination offered for the actual property and any final walk from the stop.
The operator explains that its airport and tour stops differ from the local city-bus stops. Match the stop name and instructions on your transfer booking rather than waiting at a familiar local sign. If a day tour uses another operator, follow that operator's meeting point. Being on the right street is not enough if the vehicle collects guests from a different stop.
For Marina, confirm the actual Old Harbour pickup and the final approach to Mýrargata 2. For Miðgarður, save Laugavegur 120 and the destination offered by the transfer service. For Grand, use Sigtún 28 and ask about the useful guest entrance. We do not assign a single stop to every date or imply that all transfers reach the guest door.
For the airport return, distinguish hotel pickup from the coach departure at BSÍ and the planned arrival at Keflavík. The operator's planner treats those as separate times. Choose the service by the flight and required airport arrival, then save the earlier pickup. A missed hotel connection cannot be fixed simply by knowing the later terminal departure.
If you collect a car, ask the hotel about parking before choosing the full stay. Grand's owner lists an extra charge, so confirm the current terms rather than assuming a free place. Compare the car days with the city-only days. You may not need a parked car throughout a visit shaped mainly by walking plans and booked transfers.
Reykjavík choices for spa time, harbour views and car days
For a first visit without a car, compare the places you expect to use most with Laugavegur and the Old Harbour addresses. Think about where you want to return between outings. Check the pickup for any day tour as well. The best area to stay in Reykjavik is the one that fits those repeated needs and the actual room, rather than the broadest central label.
For a spa-led stay, keep the category and access terms together. At Miðgarður, Standard and Standard Plus do not have the same inclusion. Compare the full room-and-spa choice before deciding which is better for you. Then confirm the session rules for all guests. An included facility can still have conditions that affect when or how a party can use it.
For a view-led stay, Marina's separate harbour-view category is a useful reminder to read the room name. A location by the water and a bedroom facing the water are different choices. At Grand, Atrium and Tower categories give a different comparison. Decide whether outlook or the sleeping layout matters most before paying more for a broad room upgrade.
For a group, write down who will use each bed. Marina's Studio 6 uses a bunk and sofa arrangement, which may suit some parties and not others. Ask about the exact setup rather than expecting individual beds from a room-capacity label. A group that needs more privacy may be better served by a different category or more than one room.
For a car or event-led stay, Grand gives Sigtún a clear role. Confirm the parking terms or the actual venue, then compare the routes for the rest of the visit. One useful car day need not decide every night. Weigh the whole stay before choosing a hotel mainly for a facility you will use only once.
Before you choose a room
Choose Laugavegur, Old Harbour or Sigtún by the days you will repeat.
Save the actual guest street, not a chain-office address.
Confirm spa inclusion and any session or age terms for the booked category.
Confirm harbour view, atrium outlook or tower category directly.
Write down the actual bunk or sofa, or separate-bed setup for every guest.
Check parking terms and the return pickup before paying for the full stay.
Open the hotel you chose on Trip.com and check the exact room before you pay.
This is desk research from the sources linked below, with hotel location and feature checks in October 2026. We have not stayed at or tested these hotels. The area choices express our judgment about trip fit. No price, availability, safety grade or service rating is implied.
Miðgarður by Center Hotels: hotel: Miðgarður describes its Laugavegur setting and spa, which helps compare that city base with the harbour and more outlying hotel options.
Center Hotels: Miðgarður rooms: The hotel separates Standard from Standard Plus spa and bathroom terms, so check the category rather than assume spa access comes with every room.
Miðgarður: spa terms: The spa sets age and session conditions, which should be confirmed for your actual party rather than inferred from the hotel's general facilities list.
Center Hotels: current property brochure: Miðgarður gives Laugavegur 120 as its guest address, which differs from the chain office and should be used for arrival planning.
Berjaya Reykjavík Marina: official hotel: The Marina gives its Mýrargata address by the Old Harbour and dry dock, helping distinguish that setting from a central shopping-street stay.
Berjaya Reykjavík Marina: room categories: The Marina separates ordinary Double and Twin outlooks from a named Deluxe harbour-view category, so book the specific view if it matters to your choice.
Berjaya Reykjavík Marina: Studio 6: The group category lists a king-size bunk and sofa bed, so confirm how that arrangement fits your party rather than expect ordinary separate king rooms.
Hotel Reykjavík Grand: official hotel: Grand Hotel gives its Sigtún guest address and lists parking for an extra charge, which helps compare an outlying stay with central options.
Hotel Reykjavík Grand: room categories: Grand distinguishes atrium from tower outlooks and suite baths from standard showers, so match those features to the exact category you are offered.
Flybus: plan the airport journey: Flybus distinguishes the BSÍ terminal service from a final hotel shuttle, so check which product and connection your arrival actually requires.
Flybus: city stop guide: Flybus distinguishes airport and tour pickup points from city bus stops, so confirm the actual collection point and last leg for your hotel.
OpenStreetMap: Hotel Reykjavík Grand location: The map shows Hotel Reykjavík Grand in Reykjavik so you can compare locations; ask the property which entrance to use with your luggage.
OpenStreetMap: bsi point: The map shows bsi point in Reykjavik so you can compare locations; ask the property which entrance to use with your luggage.

Where should I stay in Reykjavik for a first visit?
Compare Laugavegur for a city stay or the Old Harbour for time in that setting. Add Sigtún if Grand, an event there or parking shapes the trip. Choose a real hotel street, then the room category and transfer plan. The most useful base depends on where you will start and end the days.
Is spa access included in every Miðgarður room?
The current owner room page lists spa access for an extra fee on request in Standard Double/Twin. Standard Plus includes it. Check the exact category and session terms for your party. A spa icon on the whole property does not settle whether the room rate includes entry.
Does every Marina room face the harbour?
No. The owner lists standard Double and Twin rooms with a Vesturbær outlook, while Deluxe Room - Harbor view is a separate category. Confirm the view in the room on sale. The harbour setting in the property name does not put the same outlook in every bedroom.
Does Grand have free parking?
Its current owner page lists parking at an extra charge. Confirm the terms and space for your dates and car before choosing. A parking facility is useful to compare, but it is not a free-place or reserved-bay promise. Include the charge in the full-stay decision.
Does an airport coach ticket reach my hotel door?
Check the product you choose. Flybus separates the coach to BSÍ from an onward shuttle add-on, and the city destination may still leave a final walk. Save the actual stop and guest address. Check return pickup separately from the later coach departure and airport arrival.
Verdict: where to stay in Reykjavik
Choose where to stay in Reykjavik through the real guest street and exact room. Laugavegur, Old Harbour and Sigtún offer different reasons to stay. Confirm the spa inclusion, harbour outlook, bed layout or paid parking that matters to your trip. Then read the full airport transfer and return pickup so the last leg works as well as the room.
Open the hotel you chose on Trip.com and check the exact room before you pay.
