Tokyo areas at a glance

These Tokyo hotel areas use checked guest addresses rather than one city-centre pin. Our fit notes describe trip choices, while the linked owners supply the room and access facts. Keep both beside the booking. A city-wide map helps compare the bases. It cannot show all station passages or each room view.

Keio Plaza gives west Shinjuku with Superior extra-bed and Premier Grand lounge choices. Gate Kaminarimon gives Asakusa with exact Triple and Universal bath formats. Metropolitan gives Tokyo Station with Nihombashi access and inward versus city or train-view rooms.

Choose where to stay in Tokyo through the journeys you will repeat, then the room you need. West Shinjuku gives a base on one side of a large station. Asakusa gives another part of the city with several stations that share its name. Tokyo Station gives a rail-led choice with a exact exit. We compare three checked hotels so those broad labels lead to exact guest doors and beds.

Start with west Shinjuku for Keio Plaza and its west-side station approach, Asakusa for the Gate Hotel Kaminarimon or Tokyo Station for the Metropolitan at the Nihombashi exit. Then check the full room name. A King can face an indoor atrium, a Triple can use an extra bed, and a larger club room can still be a two-guest product.

Where to stay in Tokyo: area choices

West Shinjuku around Keio Plaza

West Shinjuku gives the first checked base through Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo at 2-2-1 Nishi-Shinjuku. The owner gives an approach from Shinjuku Station's West Exit through the passage towards the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Save that side of the station with the booking. A broad Shinjuku search can include hotels with very different routes from the same arriving train.

The other owner route uses Tochomae Station on the Toei Oedo Line. Its ordinary approach uses exit A1, while the owner directs guests with a stroller or wheelchair to the lift at A4. Choose the path you need rather than using the shortest walking label as a promise. A station may be near the hotel while its useful exit is a different choice from the first one you see.

The current Superior page lists a Main Tower Twin with a plan for up to three guests and a specified extra bed. That is the product to compare if the third sleeping place matters. Ask that it be included in the exact room setup. A third guest added to a search should not be left to infer where the bed goes or whether the booking covers it.

Premier Grand is a different room and service choice. Its current room page lists King products for one or two guests, with Club Lounge and SKY PLAZA IBASHO access included. More services do not always add beds. Compare the allowed guest plan before treating an upper-level product as the answer for a group larger than two.

The club access belongs to the named product. Do not assign it to every Superior room because the hotel homepage shows the lounge. Keep the exact entry and meal terms with the room offer you choose. If another member of the party is booked into a separate room type, ask about that person's access too rather than assuming one club booking covers the whole group.

The current owner room list gives more precise room type names than the broad hotel name. Keep the tower and full product on the booking, especially if a merchant shortens it. Ask for the exact bed plan when comparing Superior and Premier Grand. A photograph of one room should not transfer its outlook or bathroom to another room type with a different name.

For the days in Tokyo, place the west-side address beside your exact plans. A Shinjuku base can suit trips that use its rail links, while another part of the city may fit different repeated journeys. Test the routes rather than choosing solely by the station's fame. The useful base is the one that works from the hotel entrance, including the walk through the station you will exactly make.

Asakusa around the Gate Hotel Kaminarimon

Asakusa gives a different base through The Gate Hotel Kaminarimon by Hulic at 2-16-11 Kaminarimon. Keep Kaminarimon in the full hotel identity. The brand has other properties in Tokyo, so a shorter Gate Hotel search result does not settle this address. Choose this base by the places and rail journeys you want from this part of the city.

The owner access page lists Asakusa stations by operator. Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, Toei Asakusa Line, Tobu and Tsukuba Express give distinct approaches. They should not be treated as one shared platform and exit. Match the train you will use with its exact station route before relying on a general near-Asakusa description in a hotel listing.

The Essential room family offers Double, Twin and Hollywood Twin formats as separate choices. Choose the sleeping setup you need rather than stopping at Essential in the title. Two beds placed together and a shared double bed can serve different needs. Save the full format if a gap between beds or a separate sleeping surface is important to the party.

Essential Triple is another named format. The owner gives a larger guest limit and lists an extra bed alongside the main beds. This is a exact sharing plan, not a promise of three matching fixed beds. Confirm the setup with the exact booking if adults need equal beds or if the extra sleeping place is the main reason for choosing the room.

The bathroom has an exception worth keeping in the choice. Most Essential formats on the room page list a separate shower and bathtub. The Universal Design Twin lists a combined bath and shower with handrails and an emergency button. Read that room layout if access matters.

Check it too if you need a separate bath. A general headline about bathrooms should not erase the room-exact exception.

Do not infer that every room has the same view as a hotel restaurant or roof-level photograph. Choose the exact room product if an outlook is part of the stay you want. A shared hotel space and a bedroom answer different questions. Ask about the booked room's view and window position rather than relying on a general skyline image beside the property name.

For bags and arrival, begin with the exact local station and work through to the guest door. The owner lists different exits for its rail approaches. Ask about the route you need if steps matter. A point on the map can place the hotel within Asakusa, but it does not make all the stations with that name equally useful for every guest.

Tokyo Station around the Nihombashi exit

Tokyo Station gives the rail-led choice through Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Marunouchi at 1-7-12 Marunouchi in Sapia Tower. The owner describes a direct link to the station's Nihombashi exit and also gives a Yaesu North Gate approach. Keep that exact side with the booking. Marunouchi is part of the hotel name. You still need the right station exit.

A large station has many exits. Each may link to a different platform or path. Plan from the exact service you will take to the hotel lift. A rail-led stay can work well when those repeated trips fit, but the last indoor route still needs to be clear. Do not use a map pin at Tokyo Station as a complete set of directions to reception.

The King's room list includes King Atrium Side. The owner states that it has no view of the surrounding area, with a window to the lobby atrium instead. Choose another exact room type if an outside outlook is part of the stay. The hotel may be high in a tower. A window still does not prove a city view.

The same current list separates King Deluxe with a separate bathroom from King Deluxe without that wording. Keep the full product if the bath layout is part of the choice. A short King Deluxe result can hide a room-level distinction. Ask which plan is on the exact offer rather than borrowing features from a similar room shown elsewhere on the owner page.

The owner also names Queen Train View in its full room list. A train outlook is therefore a room type-exact choice, not an automatic feature of every room beside the station. Match that full product if watching the tracks is part of the reason to book. A general station hotel label establishes location, while the bedroom outlook needs its own evidence.

The King page heading mentions a larger maximum in the overall room family, while the individual King products we checked show one or two guests. We use the exact product's limit rather than the broad heading. Confirm the room and beds for the people on the booking. Read the room limit itself. A broad menu heading does not add guest places.

For the Tozai Line approach from Otemachi, the owner flags a closure affecting the old B7 route and links current details. Read that live guidance for the stay date. We do not present a closed exit as a settled arrival route. The station link may still be useful. Read the current route before you book.

Checked hotel choices in Tokyo

Compare the three bases through their full room and access details, checked in October 2026. Keep the tower and beds, plus bathroom, plus window outlook with the particular offer. A shorter booking-site category can hide an inward-facing window or a different layout, so confirm the features your party needs.

Tokyo arrivals: match the airport and service with the final exit

Start with the exact airport on the flight booking. Narita and Haneda need different plans. JR East's Narita Express serves major destinations including Tokyo and Shinjuku, but choose the exact train and ticket product for the journey you need. We do not turn the general route name into a promise that every departure serves every base on the short list.

For Keio Plaza, a Shinjuku rail arrival still leaves the route through the station to the west-side hotel approach. Save the owner's directions with the full guest address. If using Tochomae instead, choose its useful exit for your needs. The A4 lift route differs from the ordinary A1 stair route described by the hotel, so a single short walking estimate cannot stand in for both.

The Keio Plaza owner also links airport-bus details in each direction. Read the live service for the airport and date you will use. A general hotel bus icon does not prove that every flight arrival has a matching departure or an available place. Keep the exact stop and return service beside the room plan rather than assuming arrival details settle the trip back too.

For Asakusa, Toei's airport guidance asks riders to check the departure and destination on the platform. Through services can use the Asakusa Line, but the exact train matters. Keep that operator beside the Gate Hotel directions. Arrival at a station with the same area name on another railway can leave a different last walk to the guest street.

Do not treat the Tsukuba Express Asakusa station as the same point as the Ginza Line or Toei stations listed by the hotel. The owner gives distinct approaches for those systems. Choose the train that works for the day and read its own final route. A district name can remain the same while the station entrance and hotel approach change.

For Metropolitan Marunouchi, use the Nihombashi exit connection or the owner's Yaesu North route from Tokyo Station. Match that approach with the platform your exact train uses. If arriving on the Tozai Line at Otemachi, read the hotel's current notice about the old B7 access. We leave the exact changed route to that live guidance rather than fixing a closure workaround into an evergreen map.

For the return, work from the guest door to the correct airport terminal or onward station. Check the train direction and current service before choosing the final departure. We leave fares and journey times to the operators. The point diagram shows where the bases sit, while the owner and operator pages give the changing details of the exact trip.

Tokyo room choices for shared stays and views, plus lounge access

For a first visit, choose the journeys you expect to repeat and test them from the hotel door. West Shinjuku, Asakusa and Tokyo Station give three different bases. The best area to stay in Tokyo follows that plan as well as the room you can use. One famous station or a broad central label should not settle both choices without a closer look.

For three guests, name the third sleeping place. Keio Plaza's checked Superior Twin lists an extra bed. The Gate Hotel's Essential Triple also has a named extra-bed plan. Ask how the room works with that bed in use. A guest limit and a photograph of two main beds do not on their own explain where the third person will sleep.

For two guests who need separate beds, choose the full Twin format. The Gate Hotel lists Twin and Hollywood Twin separately within Essential. A shared Double answers a different need even when it is in the same room family. Save the exact format so a short merchant label cannot erase the point that matters most to the party.

For bathing privacy or access, compare the exact room plan. Gate's Universal Design Twin uses a combined bath and shower rather than the separate format listed in other Essential rooms. Metropolitan names a King Deluxe variant with a separate bathroom. These are room-level details. Ask about the feature you need instead of using a general bath or access icon to assume that every room type is alike.

For a view-led stay, decide what you want to see and choose the named product that gives it. Metropolitan's atrium-side King has no outside view, while Queen Train View is a separate room type. An indoor window can suit guests who care more about the station route. It should not be sold to yourself as a skyline or track view simply because the hotel is high in a tower.

For a hotel-led stay, put the lounge terms next to the beds. Keio Plaza's Premier Grand room product includes its named lounge and SKY PLAZA access, while the Superior choice has its own guest plan. Choose the exact services you will use and the room that can take the party. More facilities or a higher room room type do not automatically solve an extra-guest need.

Tokyo sources, check dates and corrections

This is desk research from the sources linked below, with hotel location and feature checks in October 2026. We have not stayed at or tested these hotels. The area choices express our judgment about trip fit. No price, availability, safety grade or service rating is implied.

A dated check records what the source said at that point. It does not guarantee that the stay or route is unchanged. If you spot an error, send the page and the correction. We can then recheck the affected hotel or area, or arrival note.

FAQ: choosing a base in Tokyo

Where should I stay in Tokyo for a first visit?

Compare west Shinjuku for Keio Plaza, Asakusa for Gate Kaminarimon or Tokyo Station for Metropolitan Marunouchi. Choose by the trips you will repeat and the room plan you need. Each base has its own station approach and guest door.

Which side of Shinjuku is Keio Plaza on?

The hotel is at 2-2-1 Nishi-Shinjuku and the owner gives a west-side approach from Shinjuku Station. It also gives Tochomae routes, with A4 for a lift instead of the ordinary A1 stair approach. Use the route you need.

Does a Gate Hotel Essential Triple have three fixed beds?

The owner lists an extra bed in the Essential Triple format. Confirm that exact sleeping plan rather than assuming three matching fixed beds. Essential is a room family with several formats, so keep Triple on the booking.

Do all Gate Essential rooms have a separate shower and tub?

The Universal Design Twin is an exception. It lists a combined bath and shower with handrails and an emergency button. Read that exact room if the bath layout or access feature matters, rather than relying on a general room-family heading.

Does a Metropolitan King always have an outside view?

No. King Atrium Side has a window to the lobby atrium and no view of the surrounding area. Choose a exact city or train-view product if the outlook is part of the reason to stay. A window alone does not establish the view.

Which Tokyo Station exit serves Metropolitan Marunouchi?

The owner gives a direct link to the Nihombashi exit and also a route from Yaesu North Gate. Use its current directions from your exact train. Read the live notice if considering the old B7 approach from Otemachi on the Tozai Line.

Does booking Keio Plaza automatically include its club lounge?

The owner gives Club Lounge and SKY PLAZA access with the named Premier Grand room product. Do not apply those terms to every Superior room or every person in a wider group. Check the offer for your guests before you choose it.

Verdict: where to stay in Tokyo

Choose where to stay in Tokyo through the trips you will repeat and the exact room plan. Compare west Shinjuku, Asakusa and Tokyo Station, then settle the beds and window outlook. Read the bath and lounge terms for the named product. Save the useful station exit and current route notices so the booking works from arrival through the last day.
